Today Coastal Lakes College got involved with National Walk Safely to School Day! Student were encouraged to travel safely to College by either walking, biking or scooting whilst following road rules and wearing their helmets.
Students could enter a raffle for canteen vouchers and everyone who travelled safely to College earned points for their respective houses.
Walking, riding or scooting is the perfect way to start the day by getting some exercise and fresh air, ready to start with a clear mind. Here are some of the benefits you can enjoy when you choose to walk, ride or scoot to the College:
– A great opportunity to remind children about safe pedestrian behaviour and recap on the rules of the road.
– Being outside in the fresh air creates a space in your day for mindful exercise. Taking in the scenery around you creates a sense of calm that will set you up for the rest of your day.
– Help to reduce the air pollution in your area. By using your feet, bike or scooter instead of a car.
– You can also play your part in helping to reduce traffic congestion.
By promoting alternative transportation, we are able to fund further teaching programs, biking equipment and health and wellness resources for current and future students.
