College Celebrates National Ride2School Day

On Friday March 24, Coastal Lakes College got involved with National Ride2School Day! Student safety is important to the College and students were encouraged to travel safely to college by following road rules and wearing their helmets.

Students could enter a raffle for a free helmet and if they travelled safely to college, receive either a free sausage sizzle or cupcake from the Epilepsy Awareness BBQ.

Physical activity such as riding your bike is extremely beneficial to your health – it’s one of the most important things students can do to reduce the risk of illness. It also improves educational outcomes. Children who have travelled to school in an active way arrive more alert, so they are more able to concentrate and retain information.

Ride2School is a nationwide program designed to support schools to encourage, empower and enable more students to get physically active on their journey to school.
