The Coastal Lakes College AFL Academy provides students with the opportunity to develop their Australian Rules Football skills within a structured and high-performance sporting environment. The program combines specialist coaching, physical development, tactical understanding and leadership opportunities to support students who are passionate about AFL.
Students participate in a range of practical and theoretical learning experiences including skill development, game sense training, fitness testing, umpiring and coaching education. The program emphasises teamwork, discipline, resilience and personal growth while developing the skills required to compete in school and community football.
Within a dynamic training and learning environment, students are encouraged to develop their football IQ, improve decision making under pressure and refine both offensive and defensive skills. Students regularly work in collaborative team environments where they learn leadership, communication and accountability.
Coastal Lakes College competes in local AFL competitions and provides opportunities for students to represent the school in events such as PSSA Carnivals, School Sport WA competitions and Country Week.
The program also introduces students to pathways beyond playing, including coaching, umpiring and sports administration, while providing clear links to senior school opportunities including Physical Education Studies and Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation.
Students receive coaching from accredited Level 3 and Level 2 AFL coaches with experience coaching and developing players at WAFL and State level, ensuring students are exposed to high-quality football development.
