School Based Engineering Specialist Program

The Coastal Lakes College School Based Engineering Program combines the use of everyday tools, materials and equipment with the use of state-of-the-art workshops and technologies to help students design and develop the best solutions to real-world challenges. Students regularly work in collaborative group settings where they learn to manage time effectively, share responsibilities and complete tasks efficiently.

Within a dynamic workshop and design-based learning environment, students are encouraged to think critically, solve complex problems and apply design, mathematics and science principles to authentic engineering situations. They build resilience through testing, evaluation and redesign, while developing the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and confidently.

Students engage in inquiry-based learning, project-based design challenges, industry-relevant problem solving, team collaboration, goal setting, reflective practice and the development of safe workshop procedures.

The program creates clear pathways into ATAR and General Engineering Studies, as well as Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, ensuring students are prepared for both academic and vocational futures.
