Thanks to grant received through the Your Move program in 2024, Coastal Lakes College has been able to deliver an engaging and highly beneficial Bike Education initiative for our students.
The grant funds were used to support four weeks of Bike Education through the AUS Bike Program. From Weeks 7 to 10, all Physical Education classes held on Fridays participated in structured cycling sessions led by accredited instructors. The AUS Bike Education lessons provided students with vital skills in bike handling, road safety, and cycling confidence.
The grant was also used to purchase from 99 Bikes, additional helmets and kickstands for our school’s mountain bikes, ensuring more students could participate safely and comfortably in the program.
We are incredibly grateful for this funding. The impact has been massively positive — students are more confident on bikes, better informed about road safety, and many have shown a greater interest in active transport options. This program has not only supported physical health and wellbeing but also reinforced sustainable transport habits among our school community.
